Fingerpainting Fun

Today for Toddler Time, we decided to try Hayden with fingerpaints for the first time. I must say, it could have been worse.

The Set-Up: I taped down a large sheet of paper (we have a huge roll of "banner paper"
that is perfect for this type of thing) and taped down a piece of cardboard (I cut
ours from an unused gift box leftover from Christmas)
And poured some Crayola Washable Kids Paint
onto the cardboard. I then laid out
brushes and a couple of plastic Easter Eggs and soft blocks to experiment with the pain(I pretty much figured he'd mostly use his hands anyway...)
Here is what it looked like:

Then it was time to bring him in. I think I was more excited than he was...
(sorry its blurry, but he was spastic and let out a huge GASP)
(and we just let him be in a diaper, just in case)
So I sat him down, showed him what it was a little and let him go: Here are a few of the "During" pictures:

At this point, he decided he didn't like being "dirty" anymore and was pretty much done.
Here's what the table/chair looked like after:
Like I said, Could have been MUCH worse!

And THEN, it was bath time!!! Yayyy!!!!
We used the Crayola fizzies that color the water for the first time. At first he wasn't sure, but then Daddy hooked up the bubble machine and bubble blowing gun and
he had a blast:

Bathtime was a HUGE success :) Daddy bathed him while I cleaned up the mess
and got his snack ready.

All in all this was a GREAT activity. It kept him busy for about 20 minutes, which is AWESOME for an 18 month old. We will definitely be doing this again. :) Feel free to comment with any thoughts or ideas you have or with what you may have tried differently that worked with a similar activity. :) Hope you had a great Thursday!!
